The vice president, Yemi Osibanjo made this projection during his address to Buhari on Thursday 11 June 2020.
According to him, if the government fails to take prompt preventive measures, 39.4 million Nigerians could be jobless.
This projection was done by the National Bureau of statistics (NBS), as said by the VP, when he delivered the Economic sustainability plan entitled 'Bouncing back: The Nigerian Economic sustainability plan'
During the address, Osibanjo urged that mandatory lockdown and social distancing measures to be put in place to curb the spread of Covid 19, as it has a severe impact on the economy
